I've been separated for almost two years, through a turbulent year-long relationship with a much younger woman, and re-submerged into the dating scene. I have perused many online personal ads as part of my search for the perfect mate. My favorites are the ones written by materialistic women. These women tend to be blond, have large breasts and are blatantly after someone who can support an extravagant lifestyle.
I do not fault these women for their honesty. At least they know what they want from life. However, I do feel sorry for them. They are competing with women who are younger, blonder and larger breasted. I would bet money that many of their first husbands left them for just such a creature. So, I read the ads and chuckle. Then I score the ad according to the age of the mate that I believe they will have to settle for. For example, any woman in her forties, who is reasonably well preserved, will typically have to settle for a man in his sixties. Plus, she will probably need to satisfy her potential mate with a near-professional level skill set in the boudoir.
Regardless of the jokes, and amusement value, there is something very honest about the whole enterprise, and it is a good example of how sad the truth can be.
